Present: Brent, Jim, Scott, Chris S.
Absent: everyone else....
Issues:
McLane joined us via phone for first part of meeting.
- Learned that host board we sent was only 8MB, and would not work for them. Although we typically use 16MB boards, the smaller boards should have worked. They are ordering 16MB board and will have it shipped to us. Brent to check it out.
- Camera issues. New cameras have pixel shift in bottom 2-3 rows of pixels. powering on/off usually removes this. Much more testing needs to be done to approve the newer cameras. MBARI (Brent) will do this testing, to begin as soon as we receive the host board from them. Scott has ideas on how to supply 12V power to the newer cameras. Once we get the board, anticipate 1 week of testing.
- We'd like to piggy-back on the temperature sensor board order McLane is about to make. Order 10 boards; 5 stuffed, 5 PCB's. Also 20 backing mounts for these boards.
- We will notify Ivory of the blue-wire fix for the ESD problem Scott discovered on Betty.
Machines
Bruce
Has new firmware, but there are issues with calibration. Tina using currently--will try and squeeze in b/w her runs and recalibrate (Scott).
Mack
currently on Drifter. Just learned it has loose PSV, and was blowing out WCR, so nothing collected. Still needs firmware update.
MOE
has latest firmware (v3.7).
still has pressure issues--several issues:* pressure gauge changes over time; possible PEEK creep causing it. we will turn down gain to increase the head space of the gauges
- snap pucks come apart
- clamp isn't strong enough. Scott to talk to Doug about spring change. Also will run clamp w/heat to see if PEEK changes more.
NEO
currently in water at M0. will get latest firmware when recovered (Aug 30)
Must decide what Science wants to do with NEO. Will there be a pier deployment in Oct/Nov, and do we rid NEO of the tombstone and replace with an MFB and the attendant firmware upgrades, so all cores will be running the same thing? Discuss this at next Tuesday's science mtg.
Gordon
Still in the ball. Chris P. hopes to be finished with post-cruise QC runs by Monday.
Betty
still not ready for science checkout. Pressure issues among others.
Communications for BIOSPACE
Question is whether one antenna on Brent's house can hit both the bight and the shadow ESP position. Plan is for him to get a wider angle antenna (not omni) and shoot it down the middle, or almost so, and try and hit both positions. Has a sailing friend who heads out every Weds who can take some radio gear and go to each GPS coordinate and see if Brent can ping the boat from his home.
